Umair has extensive experience in developing digital media content and establishing community networks for non-profits. He has worked as Head of Digital Communications for Khudi Pakistan and The Laaltain magazine. He has been involved in various countering violent extremism (CVE) programs, interfaith harmony projects, and civic education campaigns over the years. He is a board member of the Center for Peace and Secular Studies. He produced a mini-documentary series on the situation of federalism in Pakistan under the 18th amendment with the HannsSeidel Foundation.
More recently, he has been working with HIVE Pakistan as Community Engagement Lead on a trans-media campaign Dil Say Pakistan and Aik – Better Together. He has also been working with YesPeace Network of UNESCO as a project manager from HIVE. At HIVE his responsibilities include; strategy planning, organizing events, campaigns, and workshops, leading teams of field mobilizers, establishing partnerships with social and community organizations, establishing chapters, networks, and community of practices, and, monitoring and evaluation of the project activities. Currently, he has been leading the work on a project of HIVE Pakistan under The Coalition for Religious Equality and Inclusive Development (CREID) by The Institute of Development Studies (IDS).
